I am a writer immersed in everything writerly. In 2012 I completed an MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University.  I have won several prizes and achieved success in several writing competitions, including the Frome International Writing Competition. In 2013, I was longlisted in the Fish short story competition and the Fish flash fiction competition and in 2014 my  flash fiction ‘The Lottery’, received an Honourable Mention and is now published in the Fish 2014 winners’ anthology. My story ‘The Caravan’ is in ‘Reaching Out’  an anthology published by Cinnamon Press, 2013 www.cinnamonpress.com/product-item/reachingout/

first_sideI co-run Writing Events Bath www.writingeventsbath.co.uk with my friend Alexandra Wilson. As well as organising events with authors, agents and publishers, we facilitate popular writing groups to encourage and inspire writers, both beginners and more experienced, in Bath Central Library. We run Dream Breakfasts to help change dreams into fiction, journal writing sessions and many other workshops. In 2014 we are running a workshop on Starting a Novel in the Bath Literary Festival

In 2012, I co-founded the Bath Short Story Award  www.bathshortstoryaward.co.uk  which I organise along with my friends and  writing group companions, Jane Riekemann and Anna Schlesinger. (Caroline Ambrose, another co-founder has moved on to run the Bath Novel Award).  I love the whole process – reading hundreds of  inventive stories, and making writers happy by helping select the long and the short lists.  This year, literary agent, Carrie Kania of Conville and Walsh literary agency is the short list judge.

Boosted by my  success in the Fish Flash Fiction competition 2014 and my love of very short stories,  I have launched  a new competition, The Bath Flash Fiction Award with the support of a young website team who deal with all design issues and administration. My background as a Gestalt Psychotherapist for many years means I am always interested in new experiments. Instead of a closing date, this competition will finish when 1000 entries have been received. When the first competition ends, the next will begin. As a  twitter follower said, it will be interesting to see how it ‘shakes out’.
